I am starting to see some hiters doing this. Is this OK to
do?

Either way is good depending on if it works for you. A lot has to do with the players batspeed. The greater the batspeed, the more the hitter can use triggering mechanisms. The less the batspeed, the more the hitter has to cheat (pre start) in order to hit. A simple example is in the batting cage. Some hitters can wait for the arm to throw the ball, while others have to time the arm coming around in unison with their inward knee turn and launch position movement.
