Hi JAC

This is also off the topic of this thread but I noticed a discussion you were having on another board. In that discussion was a statement attributed to me regarding Matt Williams’ back foot. It read, “I doubt that his back heel ever came up more than three inches. Mankin point out that the low heel position probably shortened his career.”

I do not know who attributed the statement to me but I do not think I ever made it. In fact, I do not remember ever addressing his back-foot. My assessments of Matt’s swing in the early 1990’s (when I charted his swing for my study) was that he exhibited little pre-launch torque but was a great example of BHT. This allowed him kill middle-in pitches but generated little power on pitches away. --- I noted that in his later years he used more THT during initiation.

JAC, please ask whoever attributed the statement to me if they can point to its origin.

Jack Mankin
