Re: Leading off bases

I'm no expert, but when I was trained to run the bases, we kept the left foot on the bag and our arms in front or out to the sides. This gaves us 2 advantanges. Perception of your lead from the bag. In addition, when you needed to advance, the swing of the arm down and over toward the direction of the next bag transfered momentum or balance. I've tried both methods now in softball and still fall back to my schooling. Some say it's a waste of energy or time...I'm not sure...like I said, this is just my opinion and what works for me...good luck
