If I am not mistaken shoudln't there be about a 90 degree angle formed from the belly button to the slotted elbow to the hand and shouldn't this angle be maintained during the rotation of the hips and shoulders untill the point of contact?

kid,i think you see it right,but the hands should stay ahead of the shoulders for most of the swing,just not right at 1st,yes the hands should not go to the body,nothing is perfect but if it can stop reaching out and include the body turning and some connection its a good base
