Mickey Mantle's father (Mutt) started him swich hitting at age 5. Your son will most likely face more right handed pitching than left. And at 4 it is probably too early to to determine whether his right side would be clearly his best side. In addition, most of your batting titles have been won by lefthand batters. He would also be a step closer to first base. It is up to you and him, but it probably wil not hurt to try. In addition, this would increase his motor development from the left side.
