I played with Ozzie for two years, and trust me when I tell you that he was taking everything that Jose was taken.

Steroids are a very interesting topic for sure. The biggest benefit most baseball players get from using steroids is the ability to maintain strength and bodyweight, day in and day out, over the course of a 162 game season.

That being said, steroids will not turn an average player into a superstar. It can, however, help a good player become a great player. On the other hand, I've seen many players' careers end because they thought steroids would be the magic pill to get them to the big leagues. They got too big too fast, lost their flexibility, and were out of baseball within a year.

The public really has no idea how many players take, or have taken, steroids in professional baseball. Don't brand the Bonds, Sosas, and McGwires of the world. If you're going to put asteriks on records, you better put an asterik by every record in the last 25 years.

By the way, if you've ever seen young latin players in the minors, you'd know that substandard conditions and nice weather have little to do with their success.
