More info needed on inverted hand drill

inverted top hand drill helps create quick loose hands? I was told to have my 10 year do this and he will be hitting the ball harder than ever. What does this do or help? My son is on a travel team and I want to help him improve his swing and hitting. Also how do I explain to the coaches what his doing and what this will do for him and others?
