Low finish as well

From what I remember, these old-timers also had a flatter swing plane resulting in a lower finish. I get the feeling they used their top hand more than current players and didn't stay back as much either. Of contemporary players, Paul Molitor and Nomar exhibit low finishes.
Would a heavier bat cause a flatter swing plane?
