Re: video swing analysis

>>> Mr. Mankin,

Do you still offer video analysis of individual players swings? I notice in your Final Arc DVD package this is mentioned as a service but I don't see it on this website. If you or your associates still do this, where can I get more information? <<<

Hi Ernest

Thank you for your interest in my video analysis. I had just replied to your e-mail. Therefore, I will also reprint it to the board.

>>> Dear Mr. Mankin,

Are you still giving personalized hitting lessons or providing personal review of video of swing mechanics for players? My son could greatly benefit from this. We have your final arc video & are attempting to follow the principles contained therein. Coaches in our area are of little help as they seem to be unable to grasp the physics in rotational hitting & look at us as if we had 2 heads. At any rate, is there any way we could send you some video of my son's swing for your comment? I would be most grateful for your help.

Hi Ernest

Thank you for the e-mail. Yes, I do give personalized hitting lessons. I also provide instruction through video analysis of a hitter’s swing for those who are not able to come to Murrieta CA. for our mini camps. We have had good success improving a hitter’s performance from my analysis of the batter’s strong points and areas of his swing that requires more work.

The initial complete analysis is $75.00 and $50.00 for each additional follow up review. Below is an overview of what I need to conduct the analysis.

Best regards,

Jack Mankin

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SWING REVIEW ANALYSIS

Jack uses our MotionView Software with its many features (including voice over & side-by-side comparison) to conduct the review. MotionView accepts CDs and DVDsl of swings in AVI or WMV files. You will receive back your CD with the batter’s swing reviewed over and over again in frame-by-frame analysis with accurate and concise discussion of each frame.

Focus is put on the frame-by-frame break down of the swing, discussing areas of improvement leading to effective swing mechanics. Also provided are additional video clips of drills to practice and correct any swing problems the batter may have exhibited. The Swing Review Analysis will help a batter to correct problems, unlocking the skills needed to generate greater power and bat speed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAPING SWINGS

It is okay to take shots from inside a batting cage or a game, but make sure the video is clear and there is quality lighting, as sometimes when shooting the video through a net or fence the ball, swing, etc., is not as visible or clear. You can also use your back yard and tennis balls if that would be easier.

Jack prefers swings at pitched balls, not off a tee. You can use tennis balls, rolled up socks, or anything similar, but swings that simulate live pitching will give you a more accurate representation of the actual swing. Game tapes are fine to use in the tape you send in, as the hit pitch is best for analysis, however, try to get inside the fence so that it will not be a distraction. Make sure in using a game tape that the requirements are met in the following paragraph reflecting the necessary views, as this is highly important for a quality Review.

** Please provide the following 2 views for best analysis, and 4 to 5 swings of each view. First, looking at the batter as if from the pitching mound. Second, a cross view of home plate looking at the batter’s chest (as if looking at a right hand batter from the first base dugout, or third base dugout for a lefty). Please give the batter’s name, age, and bat size/weight. Again, please make sure there is plenty of light and a quality clips.

** A light colored bat shows up much better for ananysis than black or dark bats.
