left or Right side of plate

My son is just starting and cant hit anything right now. He is right handed but has never played baseball yet. I was thinking of having him hit left side of base. He does not know how to swing yet and He will listen to what i tell him as it is his first time working at it. I have ordered the CD and waiting to review it.
