Bat Behind the Head
Jack. With regard to Paul Konerko and hitters who start with their hands precocked for the most part, do you believe this is a desired technique?
Konerko is a good young hitter, but for the most part is going to do his damage to left field like most pull hitters (though he does make adjustments to the opposite field when he is going well.)
Evidently, someone or maybe he came to the conclusion that his set up would minimize wasted movement and allow him to be quicker to the ball. I also noticed that he hits quite a few (more than the average player) hard shots foul (many of them for homerun distances) and may benefit from making slight adjustments (which he probably made during the playoffs) in order to keep some of those shots fair.
