tucking your elbow and torque

I now that to have good bat speed, you have a CHP and apply torque throughout the swing. Besides creating torque by snapping your wrsites before contact, how do you create torque earlier? Do you have to try to apply force in different direction in each hand? (pull back with top hand and push forward with bottom hand) When it says in your swing that you should pull your top hand back to the catcher, does this mean in the load or during your swing? And if you try to tuck your back elbow in, wouldnt that force you to have a CHP?
