Re: Correct bat weight,length?

Posted by: Doug Cook (dcook@direct.ca) on Mon Apr 23 17:15:55 2001

My son is 10 years old and would like some advice on bat size. I initially chose a 28"-17oz. bat for control and bat speed. He had great control but there was no power on his hits. I thought it was like hitting a softball with a golf club. He now uses a 29"-23oz bat and he is ripping it when he connects, but as pitchers develop I don't think he will be able to catch up with the pitch. What is too heavy, what is too light? Is there a formula for bat selection?
