Chase Utley's Power

Posted by: THG () on Fri Oct 31 11:59:33 2008

Jack Mankin. Do you find a benefit in Chase Utley's finishing position out in front of his his body as opposed to a follow through in which the bat comes all the way around the body.

I do understand that what occurs after the ball is hit is not that important. But it is interesting that Utley has so much power from that hitting style. It is also interesting that A. J. Pierzynski has a similar finish but does not hit with near the power of Utley even though Pierzynski outweighs him by 40 pounds.
