BAT ROLLOVER

When trying to apply botom hand torque i noticed my son will rollover the top on many pitches,wheras he wont if he doesnt try to aplly it.what is he doing wrong.Ive noticed if he steps in the bucket just the slightest he tends to rollover or when he hits the ball a lil too much out in front when the bat is comming around towards third.But what would cause the topping or rolling over when trying to torque it up?
