Re: Re: rotational and linear

just a quick note.

linear vs. rotational

70's golf swing vs. 2000's golf swing ( tiger woods)

dave winfield vs. Mark McGuire

I would like to say that to many people get wrapped up in the rotational mechanices and lose the linear side of the swing. Rotation plays a huge role in the modern golf and baseball swing but so does the linear movement of the body and barrel/club. Remember, when teaching rotational hitting, focus on using the hips to start the swing, and to finish it. What this means is a hitter's legs push the barrel through the zone, short to long. Don't swing in a barrel, to many kids cut their swings off and lose valuable power. Griffey (in his day, McGuire, Bonds,) swings through the ball.
