>>> Jack,
You stated:
(4) Applying torque (push/pull action of the hands) that works with, rather than distorting, the pendulum effect of the CHP (BHT).

what are you stating the push pull actions of the hands. Are you talking at the launch of the swing or at contact? <<<

Hi Mike

In the best hitter’s swings, torque is being applied from initiation through contact. To apply torque to bat to induce angular acceleration, the direction of force of the hands at the handle must be from opposing directions (push/pull). As I stated, torque is being continuously applied throughout the swing. I broke the torque being applied down into THT and BHT to designate which hand is supplying the rearward force at that point of the swing.

I keyed in on the rearward force because it is found in only the best hitters. You do not find many average hitters pulling their top-hand rearward during initiate, nor do many have their bottom-hand being pulled rearward at contact. In fact, most are taught to keep the lead-elbow bent during most of the swing and extend their bottom-hand forward to contact.

In (3), I was referring to THT during initiation. In (4), I was referring torque being applied once the back-elbow lowers through contact.
