Hi Frank

Just some words of advice for teaching younger players keep it simple and put yourself in their body. The bat weight that your child is swing in relative terms to their body size would be like you swinging a 60 - 80 oz bat. Tape two or three bats together and try to swing them and watch your swing in the mirror. You will notice that you will do some of the same things tha your son is doing and you have coordination at a much higher level then he does.

I will agree that tee work will help him and also find some short pieces of broom handle and let him hit wiffle balls and then work with his swing. This will help him get the proper muscle memory for the swing and as he grows and gets stronger he will continue to develop that swing.

Best of luck

Dave
