<<<Tom yes you can do what jack says but that is not what is happening on a swing that is being promoted as staying inside the ball,I guess I could best describe it as a fence drill swing, jacks swing idea of hitting the ball to center on away pitch like[bonds did so well]is a rotational swing and yes the hands are always inside the ball but the barrel drag hitting inside part of ball is the staying inside the ball swing that these commentators speak of,at least that is what the hitters do when they refer to this term.
John,we have created terms here that describe things we discuss here, so many of these terms are not used mainstream, however it has only been in the last few years that I have begun to hear announcers use terms like torque, and rotation, clearing the hips, the load or negative move 1st.None of this did i hear about in the 90s but they are using these terms now not all of them but some, and the announcers unfortunately often just hear the terms and do not understand the process very well so they use them wrong when they try to explain which I think hurts many dad coaches out there hearing this and teaching hitters wrong. You can use many terms or cues for both linear and rotational as the same but what they mean ,their is intent is very different for each
