I have seen what you have described tried and never seen it done very effectively in FP. The only time I ever let my daughter use a pitching machine is when she is 20 feet away and the machine is set at maximum speed. Actually the pro guy I think his name was Clint got a big kick out of some of the drills I had designed, especially that one.

But, all I was saying was that Major league hitting instructors don't use pitching machines in the off season, or at least the 5 guys he was working with didn't get to look at the machines.

What you seem to be doing is keeping your girls from getting in a groove, but no matter what your actions are the pitches are still coming in at basically the same place. So in essense you are getting them to keep their weight back, and not guessing at the pitch. But the arch of the swing will be the same. As with most gimmicks if it works for you that is great, and I agree if you do chose to use a pitching machine, a dead drop is (almost) worthless.
