Hello Jack,

Been battling this. I feel that preload is quick but can yield straight line hand paths. I also think that you cannot teach kids how to turn if the upper body / shoulders and hand path don't match the turning hips. IOW...you cannot apply circular forces to a straight line.

I believe in CHP and I believe that arm and hand action is important for many players to have the bat in position at launch to enhance the hips ability to turn and project the barrel.

I don't believe that it is important to practice hip turning drills
and then worry about the upper body. The hip turn has to be turning something and the inside out path is the only route that allows that.
