I would recommend looking at video of high level hitters from the front view and seeing what you see.Some nice clips are available at youthbasebalcoaching.com,for example.

For a given hitter,I find the hands hide slightly MORE for an outside/high load/longer swing radius as a general rule,but this is subtle and a lot of variables have to be taken into account in assessing this.

The arms are the most direct things moving the hands/wrists,so I think knowing how they participate in doing that might be important.
