Re: hitting

There's no magic drill that increases batspeed. If your mechanics truly are fine you don't need to speed up your bat because your hardest hit balls will already travel 400ft, and if you're hitting the ball close to 400ft fairly consistently (say 3 out of times in an easy batting practice) it's safe to say you have good batspeed.

As far as "quickening" your bat, what you need to do is shorten your backswing reducing the length the bat has to travel to get into swing position. Alot of people who have no clue about physics believe that this reduces the velocity of the bat at contact but this isn't true. The swing is a ballistic movement not a ramp movement. The force that is exerted on the bat is an impulse force. This impulse force occurs when the bat reaches the swing position (the position in which the bottom end of the bottom hand and the top end of the top hand experience maximum pressure from the off centered bat)
