Hi Jim

It looks like you do understand the role of the top-hand in applying THT. But keep in mind that to apply maximum torque at the handle requires opposing force from ‘both’ hands. The rotation and rearward pull of the back-forearm applies the rearward force while the forward pull of the lead-side supplies the opposing force that accelerates the bat-head rearward. This is why the pull of the bottom-hand from lead-shoulder rotation during initiation is so important.

Jim, it is sometimes more effective to use video to show these mechanics than trying explain them with words. Hope the following clip of John applying PLT and THT helps.
