Re: Re: 8 year old - 74MPH Bat Speed!!!

My son was tested at a sports training complex for his bat speed - 2 swings at 71 / 1 at 72 / 2 at 74 -- they said for his age he would be off the chart - just curious does anybody know if there is a chart for height / weight / age / bat size etc. that is available on the internet?
> Don't know of any chart like that but that is very fast for an eight year old. It is fast for a 12 year old. I have read that 55MPH is enough for a Little League Home Run (200 ft).
> My guess would be that 74 MPH would equate to closer to 300 feet.
> Does he hit the ball with that kind of batspeed and that kind of distance? or were these dry swings for speed only?
> It would be very impressive if he could hit pitched balls with anything approaching that kind of batspeed. However, at 8 yrs old his competition may be throwing at closer to 35 MPH and timing a swing with that great a differential could be challenging.
> Tell us more... If it takes 55mph to hita hardball 200 ft-what batspeed is necessary in order to hit a softball 200ft given the bat is 34''/25 oz ?
