"Oversized Head" Baseball Bats

Posted by: Chris O'Leary (chris@chrisoleary.com) on Wed Oct 12 20:09:55 2005

I have come to believe in the importance of the balance point of a bat, and that a balance point that is closer to the hands is better.

With that in mind, what is y'alls opinion of oversized head baseball bats (e.g. bats with very large sweet spots)?

This would seem to be a bad thing since it would appear to shift the balance point out toward the head of the bat and thus reduce batspeed.

Am I missing something? Does the increased size of the sweet spot make up for the reduced batspeed?

Thanks,

Chris
