You know it's 60'6" from the mound to home plate, right? Add some for the distance to the bleachers. You're going to be close to 90' give or take. I mean, surely if you're trying to pick up spin you're in line with where a batter would stand. Why else would you waste your time on the exercise. I mean, that is the view a hitter has. Although much closer. Most backstops I've seen look about 10 yds from home plate.

But, if I'm off by a couple of feet, fine. I bet you can't see the spin from that distance.

Of course, rather than search for the truth in grc's statement, you just eat it up.
