erik, i'm not sure what you mean by "flat" position...there are two different angles..if i was looking at you from the side view i would imagine the bat should be tilted about 45 degrees as well as about 30 degrees or so toward the pitcher...the 30 degrees or so toward the pitcher is what i consider relevant in determining sufficient bat cock...also i want to be careful in saying this assists tht...tht is jack's term and i don't want to speak for him and his term...i will say that the sufficient bat cock assists the knob to the catcher thing, and that i THINK the knob to the catcher thing is what some define as tht...
