Hitting off a tee

I have a player that absolutely hates hitting off the tee.

How can you tell if a player is hitting off the tee correctly? Is the ball supposed to fly away.

If a player is constantly making contact with the T is that indicating a problem with a swing.

How is a player supposed to approach hitting off the tee in order for him to see some benefit.
