Hi Mike

We define the ‘hitch’ you described in Josh’s swing as “PLT” (Pre-Launch Torque). PLT is the use of the arms and hands to sweep the bat from a cocked forward or vertical position back to the normal launch position (behind the head) before full shoulder rotation is initiated. As you point out, Justin keeps the bat close to the launch position during his stride and preparation to swing.-- Below is a post from the Archives on this topic.
