Mac certainly seems to be quicker with the bat than the amateur. However, I was looking at this clip the other day and noticed that the amateur's front heel comes down well after Mac's. If this were resync'ed to put both players' heel down moment at the same time, you'd see a very similar swing. Yes, the amateur strides / weight shifts. But from heel down they are similar. So the amateur must start earlier to get to the heel down point at the right time.
Perhaps the differences seen here are caused more by the model of the swing in the mind of the person who created the comparison.
Any thoughts on this?
