Sounds like you have some linear aspects to your swing like "take your hands to the ball"...I think it would benefit you to think "Take the bat head to the ball". As you initiate the swing, your back elbow should come in against your side. You should then begin rotation with the hips/lower body first. This will pull your hand through correctly with CHP(Circular hand path). To add addtional power, as the bat is entering the hitting zone, apply bottom hand torque. The easiest way to do this pull back on the handle of the bat with your bottom hand.
