Re: Teaching younger players

>>>Anyone have experience with teaching rotational mechanics to younger players?

I read the info on the website, bought the video, watched it several times, and now am a firm believer that this is the proper technique. I am now beginning to teach my son and a few others on a 10&U travel team.

Using the bag (team bag stuffed with a couple of mattress pads) is great for watching the mechanics. After approx. 20-30 hits into the bag (actual number depends on the hitter's form), we then hit off of a tee for about 15-20 hits, and then finish with soft toss for about 10 hits.

Since we are just beginning, and are trying to concentrate on starting position and lower body rotation. As Jack mentioned in the video, the bag is perfect for teaching, because you can monitor the start and the point of contact (POC). Without using a video camera, the tee and soft toss are a little more difficult to monitor all elements of the swing.

The current plan is not to continue this approach until the mechanics using the tee and soft toss(particularly at the POC), appear the same.

Does this sound like a reasonable approach?? Thanks! Ken <<<
