backside collapse

Posted by: Scott (tumbalndice@tyahoo.com) on Sat Jun 4 09:17:24 2005

My son (15years old) had knee surgery and is just coming back after 7 months off. He has been playing travel ball since the age of 7 and would have made the varsity squad as a freshman had he not suffered his injury. Now that he's playing there is a noticeable collapse on his backside. He doesn't stride to the ball, just lifts his front heel then sets it down, rotates hips, then has a short downward swing to the ball. For some reason his backside is now collapsing, the barrel is below his hands and his back is arching with his chest out. I don't know if he's locking his front leg too soon or not pulling the bottom hand when he starts his swing. Is there an exercise that will help stop the collapsing or do I do as a friend suggests and video tape him and break it down frame by frame.
