I think we have two version going on with one saying the lead arm is blasted off the chest and other version being the arm remaining across the chest.

I think it's important to point out we are only talking about the upper arm around contact, as still being across the chest. The lower arm (and hand) is extended away from the body at this time. So it's not the entire arm across the chest, it's just the upper arm.

I think this might account for some of the reason for seeing two different things in the swing.
