Dan,
It is natural for the front shoulder to lift and the back shoulder to dip when swinging the bat. It is also important because it allows you to have a slight uppercut, which puts your bat on line with the path of the ball. So dont change, and if your coach tells you to swing down at the ball to get backspin tell him to read ted williams book or log on to this site or to learn about rotational hitting mechanics.
