Ralphie,

Either grip works fine on outside pitches.

The difference comes into play as the ball gets closer to the hitter.

I recommend you go to the cages and try inside pitches.
Use the box grip first.
1. Where does the ball go? Line drive or to the ground? My bet is it goes to the ground.
2. Freeze your hands at the point of contact. Is your palm up? Has your wrist rolled over? My bet is it has.
(Now try the knocking knuckles and see what happens)


Now try the same thing on pitches down the middle.


> My son aligns his 2nd and 3rd hand knucles. His coach has recommended that he lines up his 2nd knuckles (knocker knuckles). He is uncomfortable with this, and has done well with the grip he presently uses. I think it's important that he be comfortable and if it aint broke, don't fix it.
