Bond's bad speed is among the best in the game. He can hitch because he is so strong and quick. Why he is so quick I don't know...But anyway I think he uses it as a timing thing. The same applies to Gary Sheffield. He can do the bat wiggle thing becasuse he gets around on the ball so quick. These guys both have the best rotational mechanics.
