Bat Weight

I'm unsure whether or not to push my son up to a higher bat weight (lower drop). He's 10 years old, 90 pounds and has average strength and speed for his size. Unlike most boys his age who try to swing the biggest, heaviest bat they can find, my son likes the lightest one that gets the most bat speed. He currently uses a (30 -12.5) Easton and can generate good bat speed. The problem I've seen is that the bat is so light he tends to roll or flip his right hand over during the swing.

We've gone to the batting cages and he can get around on a 50 mph pitch (average top speed in our league) with a much heavier -10 or -8 bat and has a much harder time rolling the right hand over.

Should I continue to suggest he use a heavier bat or use plugging away on the mechanics with the lighter one?

Thanks,

Cal
