It will be farther from the chest on outside pitches and on pulled balls. The position of the back-arm is also informative. For balls middle-in, it should still be back in the “L” position as the bat becomes perpendicular to the incoming ball (hit straightaway). Once again, it will be more extended on outside or pulled balls.
