Re: Statue Hitting

Posted by: ray porco () on Sun Jan 7 18:21:50 2001

I have a couple of kids who have evolved into what I call "statue hitters". They have very little, if any, pre-swing movement(loading-up) and initiate their swing from almost a dead still stance. Overall, I think they have decent swing mechanics, but lack the quickness necessary to catch-up to the hard throwers. I have tried some techniques that I have read about or seen on videos, but have yet to find anything that gets the results that I want.

coach curt,

had the same problem. took my son and two of his teammates fishing. besides fishing, i had a contest to see who could cast the farthest, BUT the rules were that they could only cast with the rod held straight up and down (12 o'clock) and couldn't take it back. then had another contest, letting them do anything they wanted. then we had a discussion.
