Hi Rick

As I mentioned to Bill in the post below, try do determine what your son hopes to accomplish with a longer stride. In most cases, the batter is using the momentum of a longer stride to aid in getting the backside to swing around a more dormant (or posted) lead-side. Have him concentrate on rotating the hips and shoulders more evenly around the spine (stationary axis). The drills I suggested to Bill should also help your son shorten his stride.
