I personally subsribe to having the hands more in the arm pit area at
load, esp. when working with kids. I find it's easier for them to begin in area where the hands are going to have to to anyway.
What you refer to some current MLB players holding their hands higher, some will say they're trying to get more top hand torque.
Others like myself, believe there's certainly top hand involved, I just don't subscribe to the existence of top hand "torque".
Again, I just like to get the kids as close to an area where they'll be launching the hands from.
