One of the toughest issues to handle. I can truly appreciate your frustration, not to mention your sons.
Based on what you say, if he's hitting the ball in one environment but,not another, it's anxiety and, or nerves.
Maybe he just need to get his head away from the games some?
Obviously, when things aren't going well, it's easy for our confidence to suffer.
I can only speak for myself but, if it were my son and, I have 2 of them, I'd really emphasize how not only other kids but, big leaguers go through different types of slumps as well. I f you played, you can certainly refer to yourself for instance?
If he doesn't exhibit any real mechanical flaws, I would get myself
a large bucket of balls and, pitch to him until he says stop.
My opinion is that through much repetition and, certainly your encouragement, he'll come around. And once he hits one right on the money during a game, he'll realize that he can do it after all :)
I'm sure some other dads in here can give you some good advice.
