I would go lighter for a kid that size. My son is 4 ft 3 & a solid 73lbs & uses a 28/17, our long ball hitter last year & this year. There are a few on his team that use 27/15 or 28/15. I operate the pitching machine last year & this year for games & practice. Most kids show up w/ too large of a bat. The kids can swing the 27/15oz better than the 28. Drew has tried some 29/17 & I can tell that it slows his swing down. It does not have to be expensive, just light & not too long. I have thrown a lot of pitches to 2 dozen different kids in the past 2 years & lighter & shorter is the best way for almost all the kids. I hope this helps.
