Hi Johnny
Think of a clock. The pitcher is at 6 o’clock and the batter at 12 o’clock. As the batter (right handed) takes his inward turn, the hands rotate back to about 1 o’clock. When he keeps the hands back with the lead-arm across the chest during initiation, shoulder rotation around a stationary axis will arc the hands from 1 o’clock to 12 o’clock to 1 o’clock etc. The hands will not maintain a perfect circle because the hand-path is elongated (about 8 to 10 inches) as the back-forearm lowers from a more vertical to horizontal plane by contact.
