I would first have to ask do you have Jack's cd. If so you need to start over with it. the back shoulder will drop some during the swing. the hands close to the body. I can only guess that is because the back elbow is not in its slot (at the waist and in 90deg). when you bend your lead arm (hands close to body) your pushing the bat. and your right, a 12year old will not hit for real pwr that way.
Start the drills in Jacks video and you will see much improvement in a short time.
