Natural flow of the swing

Posted by: John (ajjdad@hotmail.com) on Wed Jun 4 14:17:49 2008

What I have come to a conclusion of sorts, is how natural the swing can flow or, as my new friends like to say"kinetic linkage." Maybe I'm overly simplifying and, to some, I'm sure I am.
I'm certainly confident that my observation has been brought up before.Like a lot of you, everything I do is always geared for making instruction comprehendable for the young kids.
That being said; I believe that if for a right handed batter, the shoulders, hands, and , obviously the arms, are rotated to a loaded position or "pre-launch", comfortably to an area where the top hand is say, under the armpit, the hips have to go along for the ride.
Jack made a post the other saying how a batter shouldn't think to first initiate hips. I couldn't agree with him more, not that he needs my approval :)But, I think we all agree that everything starts from the ground up, at the feet right?
The point I'm getting to here, is that when the batter decides to swing or "launch",the hips naturally have to go first. I mean it would be almost impossible to get to prelaunch after a good loading up and, then release the top first?
I think whats important for the kids to grasp though, is the fact that they need to take the top half back a s a unit.
And, if they do that, they will come forward, again, begining with the hips.I mean baseball is a game of physics right?
If so, all physical movement must be “equal and opposite."
Right Jack? *wink*
