Hi Dave,

It feels awkward because you don't want to keep it stiff throughout the swing. Look at the animated hitter on the front page of this site. You will see that the lead leg doesn't straighten until contact. You don't want all your weight on the back leg either, even 60%. Forget that stuff. Set up in balance. Stride TO balance again onto a slightly bent front knee and swing. Free your body up from notions of %'s and find what is athletic for you.
