Physics of Baseball

What I think is interesting, is how we've all heard the old addage;"head on the ball, head dwon, watch the bat hit ther ball, etc.." The interesting thing to me, is the statement by Adair in Physics of Baseball book, where he states that when a ball is pitched at the 90-95 mph range, the batters reaction time is over, once the ball has reached the half way point to the plate. He says;"the batter could close their eyes or, they could turn the lights off in the stadium, it wouldn't matter."
Again, I just think it's a contrast of sorts, when comparing traditional observations?
